Originally founded as KAIS: Korea Advanced Institute of Science by a special law in 1971, KAIST: Korea Advnced Institute of Science and Technology received its current name in 1981.
Since its establishment, KAIST has been producing a large number of scholars with Phd, MS and BS degrees.
These creative scientists and engineers are expected to make a major contribution to the nation's development as an industrialized country with advnced science and technology.
KAIST acquired further responsibility of educating young Korean scientific and technological talent by merging with the KIT: Korean Institue of Technology in July 1989.
KAIST has performed mid to long-term basic and applied research for domestic development and growth of science and technology potential.
KAIST will meet new challenges th accompolish its goals as a world class research university.
By maintaining our precious tradition and international recognition gained during the last 32 years, KAIST will strive to become "KAIST in the World".
