Professor Kyung-Won Chung delivered a special lecture entitled “Urban Design Thinking” as one of Urban Revitalization Seminar & Workshop Series hosted by Syracuse University on October 28th. This series invites experts from various fields to share knowledge and experience to revitalize the City of Syracuse which is in trouble of declining traditional industry and population decrease. Subsequently, three teams with professors from department of industrial design planed new design policy. Professor Chung received very positive response on his speech explained how he changed Seoul as a global design city while his term as Chief of Culture, tourism, and Design Headquarters of Seoul. Subsequently, professors from the department of industrial design grouped up in three teams and planed the design policy for Syracuse city based on the experience of Seoul in the workshop. Finishing by Syracuse public art coordinator, Kate Auwaerter’s comment, the workshop series will be continued for several times. The Syracuse University is a New York’s prestigious school over administrative science, media and broadcast, architecture, and design since it is established in 1870. The industrial & interaction design program runs a 5-year of BID(Bachelor of Industrial Design) degree course. Professor Chung received MID(Master of Industrial Design) in Syracuse University after 2-year studying from 1980 to 1982.
