Sungjoon Kim (Undergraduate senior of idKAIST, advisor: Prof. Kyung-Won Chung) and his team members from Samsung Design Membership received the best award from iF communication design award 2009 and two silver awards from IDEA 2009. 1/2 PROJECT, which received the best award from iF communication design award 2009 and the silver award from IDEA 2009, is a non-profit campaign project aimed to make donation a part of everyday life. It redefines donation from the stereotype considering it a special event, to the act of sharing the little things from our daily lives. This will lead to the objective of lowering the entry barrier to donation. As a typical example, when a customer purchases a 1/2 PROJECT beverage ? something that people unconsciously pick up without hesitation ? the person gives away the half to the needy who receives the monetary value of the half, creating a new donation system. Also, Rescue Stick, a baton-shaped portable life saving equipment which provides rapid flotation assistance to a person at risk of drowning, received the silver award from IDEA 2009. This product had received the best award from iF Lebensraume 2009 on March, and thus it also won two awards from the world best design competitions which are represented with iF, reddot and IDEA. The ceremony of iF communication design award 2009 is scheduled on August at BMW Welt, Munich, Germany. And the ceremony of IDEA 2009, sponsored by Business Week and operated by IDSA(Industrial Designers Society of America), is scheduled on September in Miami, Florida.
