Prof. Alvaro Cassinelli will be with us from September to December, working in close collaboration with Prof. Daniel Saakes at the myDESIGNLAB on projects involving novel 3d printing techniques using microfluidics. Prof. Alvaro Cassinelli was born in Uruguay, studied in France (Graduate Engineering diploma at Telecom ParisTech and Ph.D in Physics at Paris XI). He worked at the University of Tokyo from 2001 to 2015 as Assistant Professor and leader of the Meta-Perception group, a group specialized in Human Computer Interfaces. He has been awarded several international prizes as a Media Artist, including among others the Grand Prize [Art Division] at the 9th Japan Media Art Festival, an Excellence Prize [Entertainment Division] at the 13th Japan Media Art Festival (2009), an Honorary Mention at Ars Electronica (2006), and the Jury Grand Prize at Laval Virtual (2011). He will be teaching [ID410] “Spooky Mechanics at a Distance” (Special Topic in Physical Computing).
